SINCE 1961, SIGMA HAS WORKED TOWARDS A SINGLE, SIMPLE GOAL: TO IMAGINE, AND DEVELOP, THE TECHNOLOGIES THAT WILL ALLOW THE ATTAINMENT OF THE PERFECT IMAGE
The entire Sigma production, based in Japan—including our Kanagawa headquarters and Aizu, Fukushima factory—is committed to quality and innovation. The Aizu factory, established in 1973, performs most processes in-house, from lens grinding and molding to assembly and quality testing, ensuring rigorous standards and flexible production suited for high-mix, small-lot manufacturing.
Sigma remains family-owned, led by founder Michihiro Yamaki’s son, Kazuto Yamaki. Our independence fuels our pursuit of craftsmanship and technological innovation, including sensor development—the core of modern photography. Over six decades, we’ve set new standards in photographic equipment, continuously expanding with new cameras, lenses, and cutting-edge sensor tech.
The Art of Engineering
Photography captures fleeting moments and personal visions through a blend of optical, chemical, and digital processes. Inspired by this, Sigma pushes boundaries to develop tools that empower creators worldwide, emphasizing quality, reliability, and artistic freedom. Our global network ensures support and inspiration for photographers and filmmakers everywhere.
